Danny's pictures are breathtaking! When we first started looking at different photographers online, his pictures blew us away and we knew he was the one for us. He does book up quickly so he was actually the first vendor we secured right after our venue.

We booked him for our engagement photos and for our wedding taking place in the October 2018. He was easy to work with and very responsive via email and text. As with most engaged couples, it was our first time and we needed a lot of guidance and ideas for all aspects of the wedding. He provided great ideas and resources for outfits for the photos, poses, props, locations, and also gave his recommendations for other vendors at various price points we could work with within our budget. Danny and his colleague Jimmy were so sweet and patient during our engagement shoot and captured all of the shots we wanted and more. He got the engagement pictures to us quickly and we were able to get our Save the Dates out promptly.

For our wedding, Danny and his colleague Jeffrey showed up promptly and immediately got to work. We did the traditional Chinese door games in the morning and had tons of people just in and out of the house with crazy antics going on. But he knew exactly where to be and when to get all of the important shots, without getting in the way of anyone or interrupting any important moments. The best part is he needed no direction and never added to the stress of the day by asking me questions or needing anything from me. He and Jeffrey worked seamlessly with the wedding party and it also helped that he could speak Chinese to my parents and other relatives.

Our wedding photos are gorgeous and everyone we know raves about them. The post editing he does really makes the photos and colors pop. I wanted glamorous, high style shots for our wedding and he delivered! His style is definitely distinctive but my husband and I love the way the photos turned out. If you're looking for a more natural, relaxed vibe to your wedding photos, he may not be right for you. But for the highly stylized, artistic shots, he's amazing!

Danny is amazing! Word on the street is that he's currently the most famous photographer amongst the asian community in the bay area. This does not mean he's only great at photographing Asians. He's also taken very gorgeous pictures of diverse couples!

Despite his fame, Danny is very humble and accommodating to everyone. I picked him because I've been following his photography for years and I love his work, but what surprised us was how much we enjoyed working with him.

His work comes out looking more like masterpieces. If you want high-fashion photos instead of everyday photos, you're in luck. If your style is more "capture me in my natural habitat," I would recommend someone else - although you could probably speak with Danny and I'm sure he can figure something out.

There are lot of photographers out there who bought an expensive camera, put up a quick website, took some high resolution sample photos and call themselves a wedding photographer. Danny, on the other hand, is a real an artist. He has a great eye for composition and masterful post-editing skills.

Wedding/Engagement photographers are very important to people and you can't go wrong with choosing Danny!

This is a review long overdue. Let me start with saying that we highly recommend Danny and his team for photography. We simply could not ask for a better photographer and our wedding was absolutely beautiful and emotional under Danny's camera. I'm very particular about photos and want beautiful, high quality pictures filled with details, emotion, and creativity. When I received my wedding photos from Danny, I can only say that everything is absolutely beautiful and exceptional. We have received nothing but praise from family and friends about our wedding photos. As a photographer, Danny is very professional and skilled. He is positive, warm, encouraging and offers guidance during the entire photography process. Taking photos with Danny was easy and enjoyable. Communication between us was efficient and effective. We've achieved everything that we wanted for our wedding. As a couple, we were pretty overwhelmed the day of and felt that we didn't get to live the moment. Going over Danny's photos made us tear and we finally got to relive those moments through his beautiful work. We loved all the details and emotions he captured in his photos. Danny has shown his deep passion in his work. Last, Danny's final delivery was absolutely shockingly fast. Every one of his signature edit is a masterpiece! We love Danny and his work. Danny was the photographer for our wedding. We knew he was amazing from his work during and after my friends' wedding last summer. My friend's husband is an amateur (but serious) photographer, so we knew Danny Dong must be spectacular to have passed his extensive research on wedding photographers. During our various venue visits, one name also kept showing up consistently all over the Bay Area, and that was - you guessed it - Danny Dong.

Danny was very responsive prior to the wedding. On the day of, he arrived early and was just absolutely incredible throughout the long 9-hour session that we were fortunate enough to have him for. He was wonderful with my parents, my bridal party, and of course, us. He found the best lighting, the best angles, and the best spots at the venues for beautiful pictures. The time he spent putting into taking just shots of the wedding shoes and the rings really reinforced what we already knew about his professionalism and creativity.

My husband and I aren't exactly the kind that know much (or anything) about posing for photos, but Danny was patient, funny, and positive throughout the whole time. My friend's husband said it made his day during the reception because he got to sit Danny Dong, because he is just such a big deal (but oh so very nice, humble, and an absolute pleasure to work with).

I can't even put into words how breath taking and speechless my husband and I were when we saw our pictures. It's one of those moments where you just pause... and makes you go back and relive your wedding day again. That's exactly what we wanted our photos to be - and Danny and Julia captured that beautifully.

Even when comparing photographers, we were always drawn back to their work and ultimately decided to reach out. Danny and Julia were one of the first wedding decisions we made because we just KNEW they were meant to shoot our wedding.

We booked an engagement session as well as our wedding and both times they were professional and just overall fun to work with. (It was freezing cold on BOTH days but you couldn't even tell from our photos.) They really do make you feel like rockstars and all that awkwardness or shyness just goes away.

Your wedding photos should 100% be an INVESTMENT because that's what you'll have to look back on. We are so glad to have worked with photographers as talented and passionate as they are!!

My wife and I had the pleasure of working with Danny and Julia for our engagement and wedding photo sessions. Being camera shy people the two most important aspects for us was a photographer that can make us feel NATURALLY comfortable and who can capture the best holistic moments.

We first met Danny to discuss the photo packages. Right off the bat we found Danny to be VERY knowledgeable and personable. We looked over his work and found them to be absolutely AMAZING. By the time my wife and I got to the car in the parking lot, we decided that there was nothing to think about and to book Danny right away. We did just that by immediately returning to let Danny know that we would love to work with him.

Our first engagement with Danny and Julia was for engagement shoot. Danny suggest a winery in Napa would we could not have chosen a more beautiful setting. We did not know what to expect since my wife and I are camera shy. However literally after the first 4 clicks on the camera my wife and I felt naturally comfortable. We loved all the photos that taken that day. We felt like models and did not want it to end. Danny and Julia in a very short time able to capture the right angles, lighting, holistic scenery, and our best natural moments.

The big day can and will be very stressful. There are a thousand things to think about at the same time from guests, family, and vendor preparation. Having worked with Danny and Julia for our engagement session, we felt very comfortable right away and just picked up where we last left off. We were impressed with Danny and Julia's ability know when to take the shots, how comfortable they made our family feel during family pics, and how they practically made themselves invisible the whole day. I informed Danny prior about surprise fireworks for my wife, a surprise to everyone. There were only seconds to capture this moment and Danny perfectly captured the moment of my wife with all our guests. It is the one moment in a picture that summarizes our entire day.

Advice: If you're considering Danny & Julia then don't hesitate and book them. They are extremely in demand, delaying your decision by just a few hours will probably result in your desire date taken. Just to give you an idea, I last saw Danny in January of 2018, he is already booked through the end of summer. You get more than what you pay for when you work with Danny and Julia.

Our wedding was at end of January this year. It took me a quite while to settle down with our new born baby. Now I finally have time to write a review for Danny and Julia.

I still remember when we started to plan our wedding, we were stunned by the cost of hiring a photographer, especially considering Danny. After several rounds of filtering and collecting recommendations from wedding planner and DJ, we chose Danny with doubt that "are we going to get similar quality presented by demos on their website". However, once we started working with them, every suspicion went away. I don't need to spend too much words about their profession, which has already proved by their photos. What I think separates them from other photographers or any other professionals is that they really enjoy what they do every day.
They immersed themselves into the moment and focused on how to get the best pictures of you and your wedding, so it is very easy to develop a synergy between you and Danny & Julia.

I am a very picky person and almost never write a review unless I think the experience is too bad. However, I highly recommend Danny & Julia. It's definitely worth the money.

Having Danny and Julia as my wedding photographers was one of the best of the best decisions I made for my wedding!!! I normally do not write yelp review, but I need to put some good words for Danny and Julia. I cannot express how happy and lucky I am to have them as our wedding photographers.

Shopping for a wedding photographer can be very hard. I have high expectations on a lot of things. I only want high end vendors on my wedding. I saw some of my friends wedding pictures and I know I would not be happy if my wedding pictures turned out like that. Luckily and I am so happy I found Danny. I followed his art work on Facebook for a while. I know that is the style I want. We contacted Danny and we met with him on his studio. He is so fluent. He walked us through the big day photo shooting process, his style and the timeline. We know we can be relieved with him being there. I know I can just smile and laugh as much as I want and he will catch the memorable moments.

We had both our engagement and wedding pictures with Danny and Julia. They are very professional, detail oriented and easy to work with. He gave you a lot of good suggestions on where to take engagement pictures and what time of the day to take it. My engagement pictures turned out speechless. On my wedding Day, Danny and Julia arrived earlier than the expected timeline just to check on spots of our hotel regarding to where to shoot pictures. Every time I looked at Danny and Julia, they were always with the camera. I never saw them rest. They always have the camera with them running around the ballroom. I even went to them and said please take a break and have some food. They took thousands of pictures for my wedding day. They all came out great. His pictures speak for themselves. He put you in the art work, not just simply pictures.

If you are one of those brides, like me, with high expectations and only love beautiful things, it won't go wrong by having Danny and Julia in your wedding.

I knew Danny and Julia were perfect from reviews (just look below!), but were they perfect for me? My husband and I decided to book them for our wedding which happened a month ago.

They exceeded our expectations on all counts.

1) Professionalism
Danny and Julia showed utmost professionalism throughout our wedding planning process. They were always prompt to reply to emails. They showed up for our wedding on time and prepared. They were calm and collected throughout the wedding.

2) Support
Danny and Julia made everyone feel at ease. They care about their customers, and go above and beyond to meet their needs. On my wedding, they were quick to connect with the guests and abundant in their words of support. Posing for pictures is not everyone's forte but the guests made their best attempts with the encouragement from Danny and Julia. (And I hear this from the guests themselves!)

3) Resourceful
Danny and Julia knew all the best places to take pictures! They know in which location, at what angle, in what direction, with which pose to take the pictures that dazzle and amaze. For example, they arranged my wedding shoes (I wore three pairs) in a beautiful array on the window blinds with the heels as hooks (creative). With the sun shining through the window creating a ray against the shoes, the image was nothing short of magical.

4) Comprehensive
I have no doubt Danny and Julia captured every important aspect of our wedding and more. They were quick on their feet, agile with their hands and eyes. They were everywhere we wanted them to be, at the right time. These people were so hardworking that they seemed to be in two places at the same time.

5) Style
Danny and Julia fit my style. Their eye for beauty -- connecting art with reality-- never fails to amaze me. With them leading us through beautiful landscapes around the wedding venue, to posing against a backdrop of amazing natural and artificial light... I can only imagine the magazine-perfect pictures they will surprise us with.

A picture is worth a thousand words.

Just go to their blog and you'll see what I'm talking about. When I first came across Danny's work, I was in awe. His photos look like something out of a movie or a magazine. With Danny, you are not just paying for his photography, but also for his editing. He truly is an artist.

Danny and Julia are a great husband and wife duo. They are so fun & energetic and will make you feel instantly at ease.

I want to clear something up...I believe my photos are the ones Gracie L. is referring to because she wrote the review the day he posted my pictures on Facebook. As a customer, she has the right to be concerned and ask about the privacy issues. To be honest, Danny never asked me permission to post the photos online, however, I never asked him not to post the photos publicly beforehand. Maybe he thought I was comfortable with it because I was fine taking those photos on the day of the wedding? At first, I was hesitant to even "like" the photos on Facebook knowing that it will show up on my friends' wall. I am usually a pretty reserved and self-conscious person, but I just thought to myself, "f*ck it!" This is art. In return, I received a lot of great feedback from family & friends that they thought these risqué photos were sexy, tasteful and elegant.

I will say that there were some small details and close-up photos that I felt were missing/ not captured. Also, he moved the location of family & friends photos on the fly even though everyone was already gathered in the original location. This made it confusing to everyone so many family members ended up missing from the pictures and photos with friends were not taken. My advice is to make up a list of everything you want photographed or at least make it known.

At the end of they day, I am happy how everything came out. What we have are beautiful photos we will cherish forever and will someday share with our kiddos (even the nakkie ones!)

I had Danny and Julia shoot my June 1st 2014 wedding in Berkeley, CA. Their works are simply breathtaking. I have been following Danny's blog for several years - even before I met my husband. I enjoyed browsing his blog back and forth for fun. Seems to me what makes Danny stands out from other wedding photographers is his unique compositions, artistic angles, and striking finishes.

So when it finally came to my own wedding, Danny was absolutely my only option. It was a hot day in Berkeley and my ceremony venue was in a rose garden up in the mountain. Danny and Julia climbed up and down the hills and shot all the scenes that I requested. They made the guests laugh out loud when they took our group photos. They arrived earlier and left later than indicated in the contract. They were definitely professional and pleasant to work with.

Even though I was so familiar with Danny and Julia's works, I was nervous waiting for my photos after the wedding. It was like an elementary school girl waiting for her test scores. Because I was the bride, you know. Needless to say, their works are beyond AMAZING. I was emotional when I finally saw the copies. Even my most picky and proud girlfriend had to admit that my wedding photos are more beautiful than hers -- she once said her wedding photos were insurmountable... LOL!

As I mentioned, our ceremony venue was in a rose garden. Danny and Julia captured the lush, colorful "secret garden" moments for us. Our reception venue was in a historical, gothic style building. They then created the classic and timeless pieces for us. Danny and Julia must have different vision than most others - that's how I explain to myself why they are able to interpret the people and the surroundings in such a harmonious manner.

My review may already look verbose, but I'd like to stress one thing that I appreciate about Danny and Julia: the memorable and professional boudoir session.

Overall I am a fan of boudoir photography; they are sexy. Danny and Julia's boudoir photos are not only sexy, but also sensual and classy. So I told Danny and Julia I wanted a boudoir session and asked Julia to prepare a veil for my poses. However, on my wedding day, I changed my mind on the veil. I just wanted to use my wedding gown. On top of that, I forgot to prepare nubra as Julia instructed... But Julia just smiled, opened her bag, and took out a pair of sticker nubra for me. I was so grateful!

During the boudoir session, Julia taught me to artistically cover my body and helped me to pose; whereas Danny stepped out the room whenever I adjusted poses. Together, they created the natural and beautiful boudoir photos for me. My husband absolutely loves them. I was so proud of my body and my decision! Since, for me, these photos are private, I asked Danny and Julia to not show them on their blog. They totally understood my concern and had no problem doing so.

Now my wedding is done, but I still go to their blog to enjoy their latest works. I am so proud of you, Danny and Julia. You are the best!

Before I go into the reasons why I gave Danny and Julia 5 stars, let me go into some background:

I found Danny through a wedding fair I went to. It was my first wedding fair and there were about 7-10 other photographer booths there. You could tell the quality of work from each photographer and Danny's was unmistakeable on another level.

I took his card but was hesitant on the price. I interviewed about 5 other photographers (some cheaper, some around the same price, and some more expensive). In the end, it was obvious that he was the one and only choice.

Danny and Julia receive 5 stars because of the following:

1. Extremely talented photographers
We knew photography was going to be expensive, but we didn't want to pay and arm and a leg if the work didn't match the price. We met Danny and Julia before booking with them and again, looking through the portfolio, we knew that he would make our wedding photos memorable. Wedding photos are very important since they are something you will always be able to hold onto and show future generations.

2. Professional and personable
Danny and Julia are not only professional, talented photographers, but they are just simply nice people. It was always a pleasure meeting up with them and going through the pictures, prices, ideas, and so on. They genuinely wanted to do quality work for you and it came through when you talked with them.

We had our engagement photos in Santa Barbara (about 4 hours from us) and Danny and Julia met us there. They did a great job capturing the beauty of the ocean, downtown, and the campus. It was the first time my husband and I took professional photos, but because Danny and Julia were so real and friendly, it felt less like photographers taking our pictures, and more like friends. Because of this, we were more relaxed during our session, and our photos came out more natural.

3. Took part in the ideas process
Danny and Julia had some great ideas for props we could use in our engagement and wedding photos. The idea of props had never occurred to me, so I was pleasantly surprised when they brought it up. It was definitely something they didn't have to do (since I would never have been the wiser), but they knew it would add to the photos and didn't mind take a couple of hours to go through some ideas with us and follow up with some useful links.

4. 100% reliable
Reliability and ease of mind is something you will regard highly when you wedding starts coming down to the final weeks. There were a couple of vendors I hired that I was continuously worried about (up to and during the wedding if you could believe it). Danny and Julia were not one of them. Danny and Julia were among the top vendors that I hired. They met their dates with quality work. I was impressed and highly satisfied.

NOTE: I guarantee you will hire vendors that will not get things right, will make mistakes with the contract, forget to send you something you asked them to send, and so on and so forth. When you find a vendor that is profession, responsive, detail oriented and talented (like Danny and Julia), hire them on the spot. They are hard to find!

SUMMARY: Danny and Julia were a joy to work with. My engagement and wedding photos came out wonderfully and are still being raved about from our family and friends. They may be more expensive then you budgeted for but they are worth every penny. Photography is something you want to get right (there are no second chances). Hiring Danny and Julia was one of the best decisions I made for my wedding.
